Owl pellets found beneath large American Beech. Overall size of pellets and the size of bones found within the pellets suggest Great Horned Owl.
Surprisingly large aquatic sowbug (~15mm long) found in abandoned stream channel w/abundant sedges. Saw several and all were large. I'm taking a shot at the genus Lirceus, but haven't found a lot of good sources to try to ID these. Maybe L. fontinalis?
Found a pair of these sleeping in a Wood Duck nest box during annual maintenance. Two years ago the same box had a sleeping Screech Owl.
Think it was a sharp shinned due to smaller size and tail looks more square. Open to alternate id.
