I've seen this cute little insect a couple of times. Each time on a sunflower. Antelope Island State Park, Utah. 4200 feet.
Saw a herd of pronghorn lying in the grass on the north-east side of antelope island
As of 2013, this subspecies has been split as Sagebrush Sparrow by the AOU, giving me my first "armchair" lifer. We saw one such sparrow during our travels around the island.
