Fruit at base of plant
I saw this Northern Crab Spider on a Black Eyed Susan flower. Note the red rings around the front legs and the spiny look on the cephalothorax and abdomen.
I saw this cricket on a milkweed at the Summit County Metro Parks Seiberling Nature Realm.
Dominant understory plant in 10 acre swamp forest. Under solid red maple canopy.
Occasional on east side of the swamp forest. Canopy is all red maple, understory is all cinnamon fern. this is in on the upland/swamp boundary - about 10' tall, bent sapling
Rusty-red growth on base of cinnamon fern - common (on almost all of the thousands of cinnamon ferns in this area). Has the color of a cinnamon fern fertile frond, but is clearly a different morphology and time of year. Could it be a fungus? Gameophytes would be green....
Wet more wast near where trail climbs and streams join. Uncommon along stream and trail. Saw on mimulus alatus nearby (20m)
Wet more west along stream. Uncommon to rare
