Description

Upland edge of restored wetland (garden bowl at bnp). Fairly extensive clump of tussocks The fruiting stems from the spring are much longer than the greenish-blue vegetative culms seen now (fruiting stems are dried out and brown). The inflorescences don't have any perigynia left. Male flowers in one terminal inflorescence. Vegetative stem leaves near 1cm wide. This plant doesn't match any of the species on the planting list. Carex stricta is common nearby, and the fertile stems seem kind of similar to those of stricta, but the leaves don't work for that species. Wherever I checked, the fertile stems shown here attached to the same base as the wide and shortish (~20-30cm) leaves of this unknown
