At someone's feeder. This might actually have been a lifebird, now that I think of it. Not sure why we never get it at my parents' house.
Flying over the intersection, then getting mobbed by crows.
found at Bluff Head in Guilford, my second-to-favorite hiking spot on the shoreline
Seen while walking the Guilford Frosty 5k on New Years morning. We came in second to last!
Looks like a lily, not something I've encountered before, I think...
Later
Pretty sure this is Indian Cucumber Root (Medeola virginiana).
Ubick et al. says says L. venusta should have triangular markings on the middle of the ventral side of the abdomen (sort of seen here) and a flat epigynum, which this seems to have. Plesiometa argyra should have longitudinal lines instead of triangles, and it only occurs in Florida, so I'm going to go with L. venusta.
Robber fly of some kind. about 1 cm long. If anyone knows their robber flies, take a shot. I'm pretty happy with just the fam.
Old buddy from the East, in my parents' front yard.
