River Herring trapped at the Indian Run Reservoir dam. They need to be manually lifted over. Either an Alewife (A. pseudoharengus) or a Blueback Herring (A. aestivalis). I think it's likely a Blueback, but can't be sure without a close examination.

Observer

Description

A Goby poking its head out of an old liquor bottle. I often find them hiding in bottles and cans. There are only two Goby species in this area, the Naked Goby (Gobiosoma bosc) and the Seaboard Goby (Gobiosoma ginsburgi). I originally thought this was G. bosc since it is more common and the habitat is better (relatively shallow estuary (somewhat brackish) in shell bed surrounded by eelgrass. However, the patterning seems better for G. ginsburgi (can't tell from this photo), although they typically prefer deeper water.

Description

A Sea Raven found in Point Judith Pond. It was found alive struggling at the surface trying to re-submerge. Someone must have caught and released it, however these fish tend to gulp air when taken out of the water and are unable to subsequently purge it. So they just float at the surface trying to get down, but can't again.
