Description

A co-worker discovered this nest near the staff and boater parking lot. I observed a killdeer approaching the nest after my co-worker and I left the nest. I also observed this killdeer pretending to be hurt so we would chase after it and leave the nest.

I found this during my walk around the wetland demonstration area at Milliken State Park. My co-worker said this was a praying mantis egg casing.

Description

2 male. 1 adult & 1 immature. 1 female. All of them were trying to catch fish in the park harbor. I did see the immature male catch a fish, but was unable to keep it and was also harassed by a seagull. The males and female Goldeneye were not see together. The males were seen before the female.

Description

I saw several male and female pairs. The was one dominate male because it aggressively charge other males. The birds were also very skittish and flew away each time I wanted closer to the water. The photos that i posted with this entry are of these birds flying away.

Description

I saw this merganser in the harbor around 3:30 pm. It had a brown head and I was told by a birder that this merganser was a female. It tried to take off from a short distance but could not. So the female merganser swam back further and took another try. It made it.
