Adult and juvenile Sandpipers. When approached the birds moved away but did not attempt to fly leading me to believe the juvenile is not able yet and the older bird is parent.
Lone female Mallard Duck with eleven ducklings.
Heron was stalking frogs or toads first time I saw amphibians wasn't sure of the water quality.
Four adult Canada Geese and a dozen goslings
Most if not all of these shells were empty. May have been killed of by a recent killing frost.
In this picture you can see the American Toad I rehabed's lawn mower injury.
I found this American Toad about two weeks ago unfortunately I found him by accidently cutting off the tip of its back right leg. I caught it and put it in an old terrarium I have and bought it some crickets and monitored its appetite. A few days ago I put him in the bath tub and found it could still swim fairly well so I decided it was time to release it. I know your supposed to release animals where you found them but my coop just hired a lawn maintence company and I didnt trust them to watch for toads. I decided to release him close by in a rain run off pond. It appeared happy to be back in the wild where it belonged.
