Is this the right species? Not certain.
Did not know this was in vt.
Found dead. Orange on part of abdomen.
thought it was a tomato hornworm and tossed it out of our little greenhouse. didn't look quite right though. Turns out it is a bedstraw hawkmoth instead which is good because we have a ton of bedstraw here, and when i tossed it out of the greenhouse it probably went into a pile of growing bedstraw so good for it.
A beautiful butterfly caterpillar but eating my dill! I tossed it on some goutweed just off our land. Hope it can eat that. It's the correct family.
Note also exploded cabbage white caterpillar nearby. Do these wasps kill them? Good!
Found in garden and squished
Our milkweed patch
ID based mostly on habitat and location in a rich fen. Did not take a sample since not on work time (don't want to be pulling up plants while on hikes). Didn't get a good view of the midrib of the bract... but the open form of the inflorescence looks right.
A very neat little fen.
Popped up in rain garden. Not sure what species.
Sapling. Larger probably planted one nearby
