Yellow-eyed with dark pattern on sides of head, long pointed tail, finely barred belly.
Waterbury Center, VT December 28, 2013
This Northern Hawk-Owl has been in Waterbury Center, Vermont since the 15th, and was well worth the trip to see it.
This individual was perched right by a busy road, with cars and trucks zooming by constantly, but it didn't seem to mind at all. We watched it for 20 minutes or more.
This was the first of two different owl species seen yesterday, both life birds for me and really thrilling sights.
