I think this is Himalayan Blackberry based on the shape of the leaves and the distinct point at the end of the leaf.

Although difficult to see in this picture, the mosquito-like insects are very common at Yesler Swamp. They have six legs, small antennae, and a body that curves upward at the posterior.
