Description

small bunch of lichen in the grass, possibly pulled off of something? It was only 1 inch across and was a light green color with tiny white splotches.

Description

rounded 1-2 inch wide cap with a slight raised center and curved down edges. The cap was a vivid orange-yellow rust color. The stem was about 1-1.5 inches tall and was light yellow. The gills underneath were crowded and a dark brown color.

Description

-light brown mushroom
-Found near trees and amongst small ground vegetation
-Its cap was not round but was flaky looking around the edges
-The stem was thicker and short, maybe 1.5 inches long
-Cap had a similar hump in the center and white-ish tan gills.

Description

grew in arch-like clusters in grassy area. No more than 1 inch across. Stems about 2-3 inches long but were skinny and light brown. The rounded cap was smooth and had a raised hump in the center. The gills underneath were a white-ish tan.

Description

I saw and heard several chickadees while I was out in Yesler today, however I could only make a brief sketch of one. A black head with a white strip under the eye was the give away, that and it's song.

Description

Cedar Waxwing were present making high-pitched calls in the upper canopy of the cottonwoods near my spot off the boardwalk. I noticed they were orange, but had a long tail with bright colors on the end. A worker at the Horticulture center confirmed what I saw as a Cedar Waxwing. Couldn't get a photo, as camera doesn't zoom (unlike my binoculars).

A cold white fungus I found growing out of a dead and decomposing log. Stalks of the fungus grow straight up from the log in precarious manner. The stalks are darker colors near the base.
