My understanding is that the black bears in this area are Ursus americanus cinnamomum (though this one and many/most of them are not in fact cinnamon-colored).
Found crawling on the back of my neck while driving, just after wandering around the Jasper Fairmont resort.

Tracks on the fine sand banks of the Athabasca River. In the second photo it looks like a mink? passed by too.
These Canada geese were seen from the dining terrace of the Fairmont Jasper Lodge.
