Adult plus half grown ducklings. Originally, and mistakenly, lumped in with a female pintail who was also around, near the highway.

Not positive, but looks like a female northern pintail that was swimming quite near the Tern Lake pulloff.

Seen while driving out. Silhouetted unfortunately, and didn't get a chance for a better photo, but white tail tip and marking suggest a merlin more than a peregrine to me.
