Very rare, but growing in the center of a vast sage scrub.
Growing underneath the black mustard and sage.
Dried out, and drastically different from its blooming form.
Almost as abundant as the California sage.
Prickly little guys, but they can be found sparsely within the Cali sage.
Dried with no flowers, however there was plenty of these growing in large groups just outside the main trail.
Many of these little guys can be found growing among the dominant sage.
Dried to the "bone," but still standing tall.
Hundreds of them line the banks of the riverbed, as well as creating a forest within the central islands.
Hiding beneath a sycamore, this shrub was thriving.
