According to a recent classification proposed by Brown et al. (Zootaxa 3083, 2011) this specimen is diagnosed as belonging to new taxon Ranitomeya toraro.
Hypsiboas fasciatus photographed at night on tall grass in small pond.
It was rapped around an electrical wire. I grabbed it with my snake tongs to identify it. I set it on the ground while I got my camera and got some pictures. Unfortunately it was very vicious, and with the cat eyes and the triangle shaped head I thought it was poisonous, so I had it killed. Only later did I see the grooves on the side of the mouth identifying it as a Tree Boa.
This is the Local Chivi's Race Possibly a different species.

I have one family group living at the base in Puraquequara, and I often see another at Parque Mindu where I took this picture.
We have a lot of grass on the property, and on some mornings I find them on the soccer field.
They usually don't hang around for long though.
This seems to be a refuge spot for the species. I see it out on main rivers where the lights from the boats pick up their eye shine, but if you want to see them in manaus got to Parque Mindu.
