A few of these up here
2 big ones everything else small maples and beech
Strange very high for oak
Mushroom with red cap, which grew in a shady area where pine needles covered the ground.
Think this was a solitary female.
This one has an overall dark color, wide dark eyeline (more of a 'band'), a white streak under the eyes, heavily streaked throat and breast, and a heavily notched tail.
Was singing from a perch on the edge of woodland, where bittersweet was heavily in fruit.
One of two Song Sparrow-like sparrows I observed today, but which did not match in pattern or in song.
This one has a dark eyeline and a white supraloral, very prominent dark mustache patches, and streaking only on the upper breast. I could not get a photo that showed the shape of the tail notch.
Singing from a prominent branch on the brushy edge of the woods.
rump and upper tail feathers rusty in color; eye ring, streaked/spotted breast; frequently holds wings out partway
Frankly I don't even know if this was a slime mold or a fungus or a tree illness of some kind. Fairly large, the diameter of a tea cup saucer.
