Some small rows of saplings at edge of mowing line. Just 2-3 years old? These rows are very linear and at the edge of the last hay mowing.
These rows of saplings total approx. 100 ft long stretched out over 1000 ft.
Do not appear to be planted or root suckers.
Probably seeded from older nearby plants.

Today there was a report of an Eastern Meadowlark along Stevens Road in Thetford, where we saw one last spring. We didn't see that bird, but we were surprised to see three Buffleheads swimming in a temporary pond in a field.

Clearly a woodcock as it flew towards me and landed within 8 feet when my dog flushed it. There is no mistaking the mottled brown color, long bill and eyes set back on its head.
