This bird was seen just above Victoria Falls on the terrace of the Royal Livingstone Resort at tea time. One could clearly see the mist from the falls rising above the lake level.
This individual had just gone bathing in the river, a tributary of the Zambezi. I was at some distance (about forty metres) on the opposite river bank.

Female ovipositing on Portulaca sp. Two female forms present in the same vicinity.
These were everywhere at Victoria Falls. They're a bit scary because they're so used to people and they don't hesitate to come right at you if you have something they want.
I first saw this Empusa mantis on vacation at Vic Falls. I still don't know the exact species.
