Two Northern Water Snakes were at the north end of Shelburne Pond. One swam next to my boat for a few feet and then disappeared into reeds. The other - a much darker, almost black individual - was on a few rocks next to the water. This snake raised its head when my kayak got close, but stayed put so I could get a good look.
