finally a Cormorant came a little closer to my camera
Elizabeth and I visited the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center -- really neat site with lots of birds. Rain was forecasted and by the end of the morning, it was pouring pretty hard. :-/

One Neotropic Cormorant is flying with the DC Corms in this shot. It is one of the right most birds, just under and forward of the uppermost DC Cormorant and slightly above other DC Cormorants. Note the smaller relative overall size, different gular pouch shape and gray (not orange lores). I am posting this since it offers a comparison of these two species in flight. Observed 18-20 specimens atop the dam among various turtles including Texas River Cooters and Guadalupe spiny softshells.
