A pair of White-necked Puffbirds at Mayflower-Bocawina NP. These two birds were in a tree right above us, occasionally flying over to a nearby termite mound and pecking at its surface. I've heard of birds nesting inside termite mounds, but I guess they were probably just feeding.
I've just realized that there's a little hummingbird in the upper left background of this shot which I didn't see at the time.
Ave poco común , tuvimos la suerte de observarla sobre el tramo carretero Pedro Antonio Santos a Bacalar Q.Roo perchada en un cable. Foto. Juan Flores.
When we returned from the tiger fern hike, we popped back out onto the Cockscomb access road, and found this gorgeous bird calling in the trees on the other side.
He let me get very close, almost right underneath him, to get this shot. A species I've seen before, but nowhere near this well.
