As long as I can remember I have loved the native flora around me. I grew up on a farm with a grandmother that knew many of the wild edibles and medicinals that were common in our area of Southeastern Oklahoma. In college I took an elective class on plant taxonomy and I was hooked and soon I was earning my degree in Botany and working as an undergraduate research assistant for Connie Taylor, PhD during her work on her Key to the Asteraceae of Oklahoma.
Friends and family know that if they are riding with me, there is a strong likelihood that at some point I am going to brake suddenly and jump out of the truck because something has caught my eye.
