I live in downtown Los Angeles and have a little garden (on the 4th floor of my building) that consists of two 24-inch planter boxes outside of my west-facing window, and also two 24-inch planter boxes outside my south-facing window. I grow simple things (Lantana, aloe, catnip, etc.) in these planters to attract pollinators. In addition, I also have two Hummingbird feeders outside each of these windows (resulting in a total of 4 Hummingbird feeders). The hummingbird population that feeds on my feeders has at least tripled since I first put these feeders outside my windows. Although I can't verify this for sure, I believe that there are at least 3-4 dozen hummingbirds who visit my garden daily. When I first placed the feeders outside a few years ago, there were perhaps 5 or 6 of them. I love growing things in my garden, and also love taking care of, watching, and being visited by, the hummingbirds every day.
