Contorted Pogonatum Moss (Pogonatum contortum)

Observer

Description

I thought this was a Polytrichum and went straight for the polytrichum key but it just did not quite fit. The lamellae are only 2 cells high and the plant was growing on rotting wood.

I little more research I and knew I had pogonatum contortum based on the 2 cell lammelea and the way the leaves are crisped when they are dry.
