Florida Horse Conchs, Triplofusus giganteus (also called by its older name, Pleuroploca gigantea) are common at University Beach, but usually only one of a few are observed at a time. During this visit, I observed a number of live Horse Conchs with their bright orange foot, at low tide. Crabbed shells are more common in this location. The largest one I've seen here was about 200 mm long (8 in).
