Description

Large, spreading liverwort, shiny, tightly affixed to trunk of Alnus rubra.

Leaves flattened, upper leaves overlapping like reversed shingles, divided into large, round upper lobes and smaller, tongue-shaped under lobes.

Sporophytes short, inconspicuous, capsuls perfectly round and dark gray-green.

Common name: Tree ruffle liverwort
