I was leading a birdwatching trip in the El Triunfo cloud forest of Chiapas, Mexico, when we discovered this unfamiliar green alligator lizard. The only way I could get photos of it was to have someone hold one of its legs while I took shots, thus I have no image of the whole animal. This animal was identified from my photos by herpetologist Dr. Jon Campbell at the University of Texas at Arlington. This species had been described new to science only a few years before this observation.
