Tule Elk (Cervus canadensis ssp. nannodes)

Description

Tule elk, Point Reyes. One herd contained a single male bull, and approximately sixteen females and calves. Another pair of females was alone across the road.

The male would bugle occasionally. Through the morning fog, I could hear other nearby elk calls from two other distinct locations.
