Description

Juvenile female. Minor external injuries but near death due to hypothermia. Taken to WIRES veterinarian but only lived one more day. She was a member of a small colony on this private forest property. We often spot their brilliant eye-shine in the Mountain Ash-Turpentine canopy. Usually it is predation by Powerful Owl that causes juvenile deaths here: only the tail is found sometimes. This one may have crashed to the ground after a misjudged glide, or during a treetop fight.
