Gray-crowned Yellowthroat
Sabal Palm Sanctuary,
Brownsville, Texas
19 Feb 1988
This bird provided the first 20th century record of Gray-crowned Yellowthroat in the United States (there are many Texas specimens from the 1800s when the species was apparently more common in south Texas). The bird stayed for several months and was seen by many hundreds of observers. One of the shots posted was a cover image of Birding magazine at that time.
