Gray Flycatchers were first discovered singing on territory in Texas in 1990. In 1991, I co-authored a paper published in the Bulletin of the Texas Ornithological Society documenting the first nesting of this species in Texas. Between 1991 and 2005 I made many visits to this area with other researchers documenting this species in Texas. Some years we found as many as 30 nesting territories in this area.
