first seen here in May, about half an hour after sunset (8pm) i saw a BCNI fly just over horizon it then landed on the road under the trees just to north of the pinned spot, shortly after another joined it there was a slight tussle and one of the birds flew off not to be seen again. The remaining bird fed on the road almost entire time. WE never heard a male vocalize as has been reported in the past. Just chuckles and croaks every once and a while. Once it got to dark i turned my headlamp on and headed back to the car. The BCNI was perching/feeding on a rock a few feet from the car, so i snapped a couple photos when it was not facing us. Finally it flew within a few feet of us at waist level catching an insect attracted to my headlamp, which was the perfect way to end the day.
This has been a great year for this species in SE AZ with up to 5 being reported from this location
