I was conducting a presence / absence survey for the endangered American burying beetle (Nicrophorus americanus). Although I did not observe any ABB's in or around my carrion-baited pitfall traps, I did observe several other interesting carrion and dung beetles. I observed 5 Phanaeus sp. in pitfall traps while checking all traps along FM 44 in the morning.
