I saw this whale (one of a pod of app. 6) while on a cruise with Sanctuary Cruises back in 2005, and thought the picture was lost to history. Digging around in an old laptop, though, I turned it up. I'm pretty ectstatic, as this was one of the most unusual sightings I've had on the Monterey Bay.

The whale was IDed by the naturalist on board. I remember she could barely contain herself. I don't remember her name; the company has changed hands since then.

The coordinates are veeeerrry approximate. The whale was in the Monterey Bay. That's about as far as I can say.
