Sphagnum Sprite
Nehalennia gracilis
male
Angelina National Forest
Jasper Co., Texas
15 June 2009
3 shots posted; two males and one of a pair in copula.
Martin Reid and I were fortunate enough to discover the first Texas records of this species. Previous to this occurrence, the closest known population of this species to east Texas was in Alabama. Since 2009 the species has been found in similar habitats in Louisiana. The Texas population has been confirmed by Abbott and Paulson with specimens and photos. Abbott has also visited this location with me and collected specimens.
