We need assistance in identifying this mammal which looks to be some sort of canine, possibly a fox. It was observed on 17 May 2014 at the Xcaret – Mayan Riviera near Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, México. It came out suddenly from the thick foliage seen in the digital image and managed to catch something edible (prey) and just as quickly turned around and disappeared into the same thick foliage. This slightly blurred image is the only pic we took. This mammal was not in any sort of enclosure at the Xcaret ecological park but was instead running loose on the property. What might this mammal be? Need ID. Thanks!
