Description

I was driving north on U.S. 165 when I saw a flooded agricultural field on the east side of the highway that was covered with ducks. Stopping to look I was stunned to see a huge number of Fulvous Whistling-Ducks with lesser numbers of N. Shovelers and Blue-winged Teal. My count of Fulvous Whistling-Ducks was 800-1000 birds, easily the most of this species I have ever seen at one place! The fields were probably rice fields flooded in preparation for planting. Anyway, it was an amazing number of this species!
