Description

This pine was one at least four conifer species around the campground. It was identified (and separated from the very similar Ponderosa Pine (P. ponderosa)) by its overall size and shape, reddish, strongly vanilla scented bark, three needle clusters, and almost softball sized pine cones with inward pointing tips.
