I'm not sure this cottontail can be identified to species but it was in the Davis Mountains at an elevation of about 4400 ft. in scattered oak riparian woodland on a bajada adjacent to higher country.

Sylvilagus auduboni reportedly occurs in the lower desert flats surrounding the mountains.
