Greater Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus)

Greater Roadrunner was again spotted at a different site after actually leaving the LBJ National Grassland on County Road 2560, about a mile from the exit to the national grasslands that we'd taken. We spotted it in the middle of the road and as we approached it crossed over a cattle guard at the entrance of a private farm located opposite the national grasslands. This was our first visit to the national grasslands located north about 10 miles from the county seat which is Decatur, Texas. Greater Roadrunner is easily an authentic resident of the Western Hemisphere. The LBJ National Grassland is administered by the US Forest Service, US Department of Agriculture.
