As I sat reading on the beach, blithely unaware of the searing pain my beet-red back would soon experience from an afternoon of unprotected snorkeling, these little Pallid Ghost Crabs kept popping out of holes all around me, flinging sand in fans before their holes and then sitting on their stoops, admiring their handywork. They were freaky fast and impossible to catch, but otherwise pretty brazen.
