Description
The deep magenta iris periphery (see photo 2) is extremely unusual. The only species of this genus that I am aware of with a red iris periphery is Boophis praedictus (although the shade of red seems rather different in the photographs I have seen). The locality (Masoala) is known to be within the distribution range of B. praedictus: Glaw et al (2010) mention the existence of a photograph by O Jovanovic from Masoala showing a Boophis with red iris periphery, which they attribute to B. praedictus.
