Description

There was a large flock of female Wild Turkeys around the feeders at the Raptor Trust. When I first went by I didn't see any males, but on my 2nd pass I was treated to 5 adult males standing in a cluster nearby & displaying. They would rotate as part of their display; here I caught 3 of them pointing in the same direction. Check out the front view too. Every so often a female would wander by & check them out.

These are very wary birds, easily spooked by a human on foot. But there was a driveway nearby, & they were quite used to cars, so I was able to get some nice shots using the car as a blind.

There's something about their finery that reminds me irresistably of Japanese costumes in The Mikado.
