A large adult grey pigeon with reddish-brown spots on its wings and a prominent patch of red skin around each eye, which flew out from under the roof over a picnic table at a scenic overlook adjacent to a small canyon that feeds into the River Tapoa, which itself is a tributary of the River Niger. On one of the roof supports for the shelter a well-protected nest constructed from small twigs contained several young birds that were covered with a thin coat of reddish-orange down.
