What

Four-toothed Mason Wasp (Monobia quadridens)

Date

June 14, 2014 11:12 AM EDT

Description

This fly looked wasp-like, but with only one set of wings (2), rather than two sets (4), is a fly rather than a wasp.

Wings were a beautiful reflective metallic blue.

NOTE: this apparently was not a wasp mimic, but actually IS a wasp. I've learned that you can not always easily see the second pair of wings.
