About

As large, permanent fields often smack in the middle of human-dominated landscapes, airports are habitat for an interesting mixture of species. Skylarks, birds of prey, and burrowing critters use the open grassy areas between runways, disturbance-adapted plants grow in cracks in the asphalt, and introduced birds crowd around the terminals.
