Five Wild Turkeys were right along the side of the road before being spooked by a pickup. Four made the picture.

This is a Slaty Skimmer (Libellula incesta), a common species in the area, found around lake and pond margins. This is a male – all dark.
I saw both males and females in a field eating and the toms were in full strut. There looked to be two adult toms and seven or eight hens.
