Antelope Valley College Bioblitz

A BioBlitz is a citizen science effort to record as many species as possible within a designated area. This event will be a mini version of a BioBlitz--taking place only on the Antelope Valley College campus in a short period of time. Therefore, the purpose is to classify as many species as possible within the limited time frame. Participants need no previous experience and may work in groups to split the prize money, or set out on their own to claim it for themselves. Each individual or group will be assigned areas of the AVC campus the day of the event to prevent cheating and will have one hour to survey this area. We will provide a brief orientation for how to do this and the tools to classify the species, such as computers and books. The STEM Club and Undergraduate Research Committee are hosting the event to raise awareness about biodiversity and how to protect it. less ↑
