Welcome to the Bioneers Family Fair Bioblitz 2015!

We will be having two walks in the Gallinas Creek Watershed at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday to document as many species as we can find!
Our Bioblitz is unique in that we’re also challenging you to look at nature through the lens of function: What are the species DOING? Are they attaching (temporarily or permanently--to a leaf or rock, to your clothing)? Moving through the air, in water, across land, through dirt? Displaying or modifying color (to attract mates, protect via camouflage, provide warnings to predators)? Generating or converting energy (through photosynthesis, bioluminescence)? Protecting themselves (from predators, weather, structural forces, other environmental factors)?
Add the functions you observe to inspire sustainable innovations using biomimicry and check the AskNature.org database. Together, we can make some great discoveries and by observing nature's genius and asking nature for advice.
