The Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve near Playa Del Rey received years of degradation from the urban development in the surrounding area. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is currently reviewing four restoration alternatives to create a thriving coastal ecosystem in Ballona.
